Mr. Louay Kolo, an academic staff at AIU, has delivered two workshops on Elementary Statistics and Analysis using SPSS at the Syrian Investment Agency (SIA) on two consecutive Thursdays (1 and 8 Dec 2016). The workshops were attended by over 15 participants of SIA staff. The aim of the workshops is to raise the awareness among SIA staff on the importance of statistics and equip them with analytical skills.
Under the scope of TEMPUS project MATRE plan for sustainability and within bonding and networking with business partners and project stakeholders, and within the partnership agreement with the Syrian Investment Agency (SIA), a training workshop was held at the Syrian Investment Agency on the 24th of November 2016. Dr. Serene Dalati conducted a training workshop on Leadership Skills and Teambuilding. The target group for the training workshop comprised functional level and first line employees from the SIA who are interested in gaining interpersonal and leadership skills in the organisations.
The Faculty of Business Administration is preparing for the First Scientific Conference in Management, Finance and Economics 2017, which is developed, sponsored and hosted by Arab International University. The Conference has the scope of scientific research in business focusing on research topics in Management, Finance and Economics.

As part of WP4, the second training session on elementary econometrics were conducted at DA by Dr.Sulaiman Mouselli, Dean of the faculty of Business Administration at AIU.
The training session was attended by more than 10 master students from Economics and Banking departments.
As a part of WP4, Dr.Sulaiman Mouselli, academic staff at AIU, started an elementary course in Econometrics for master students at Faculty of Economics. The course will be conducted every Thursday for 3 weeks starting from 17 Nov 2016. Ten postgraduate students and staff attended the workshop.

Dr. Serene Dalati conducted a training workshop on Perception and Personality profiles in organisations. The target group for the training workshop comprised students from Damascus University from different disciplines who are interested in gaining business related knowledge and soft skills.
Under the MATRE umbrella, EMRSC (Economic & Management Research Support Centre at Damascus University) organized a workshop on Articles Writing & Publishing on Thursday 10th November 2016.
Dr. Riad Abdulraouf, the lecturer, explained the characteristics of a good article. He highlighted the different ways to design a publishable research and the mistakes to avoid when writing an article. More than ten of the postgraduate students and some of academics attended the lecture. The discussions during the workshop were about the different components of a good research (an article). Particularly, questions about how to design the research, how to prepare the literature review, and how to choose the correct methodology are treated. Post-graduate students explained the obstacles they face when publishing (or trying to publish) in national or international journals. Some advices have been provided at the end of the workshop in order to overcome the publishing obstacles.
As a part of WP.4 (Running training courses and seminars for the interested group), the Arab International University AIU, “Faculty of Business Administration” has launched the first activity of the joint agreement with the “Syrian Investment Agency” SIA, through an agreed timetable between the two Parties.The first stage is the workshops which will be provided by Professors of the Faculty of Business, in Special topics of interest to the Agency.The first workshop was inaugurated on 3rd Nov 2016 by Dr.Victoria Khnouf on “The Basics of entrepreneurship” with the presence of all concerned Departments at the SIA with 30 concerned persons have attended the session.
On Sunday 6 November 2016, and as a part of WP.7 of the dissemination of MATRE activities , Dr.Kinaz AlAytouni, The head of MIT department at the faculty of Business Administration, has delivered a seminar on the ideas, results and opportunities for future projects discussed at Oldenburg final meeting on the project. She has explained what venues of future collaboration could be and what is expected from the partner side. The seminar was attended by the coordinator of IUST, Dr. Chadi Azmeh.
As a part of WP4, a workshop on statistical analysis (using e-views) was organized at Damascus University (EMRSC) on 3 November 2016. Dr. Sulaiman Mouselli delivered a lecture on the use of statistical packages in analysing data for research purposes.
Dr. Adnan Ghanem, the dean of the Faculty of Economics, has an intervention about the different types of statistical tests. More than ten post-graduate students attended the workshop and discussed the presented issues. Particularly, the post-graduate students have been provided with clarifications about the use of E-views in the analysis of data related to their research themes.
